Compound interest calculator
Compound interest means the interest you earn is added to your balance and then earns interest itself, so growth speeds up over time. For example, 10,000,000 VND invested once at an assumed 10% a year could grow to about 25,937,425 VND after 10 years. Results are illustrative only.
The compound interest formula
A = P × (1 + r)^t
- A: ending value
- P: starting amount
- r: assumed yearly return (10% = 0.1)
- t: number of years
The formula assumes returns are added to the balance once a year and nothing is withdrawn along the way.
Worked example
| Assumed yearly return | After 5 years | After 10 years | After 20 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7% | 14,025,517 VND | 19,671,514 VND | 38,696,845 VND |
| 10% | 16,105,100 VND | 25,937,425 VND | 67,274,999 VND |
| 12% | 17,623,417 VND | 31,058,482 VND | 96,462,931 VND |
